 Protect your PC

Before you connect your computer to the internet you must install and activate anti-virus software and a firewall. Failure to do so is a breach of the user terms (section 3) and could result in your computer being disconnected from the network. Please read the following page and follow instructions as appropriate.

The programs we recommend are all free for personal use. Some of the software is provided by groups who rely on donations to develop these applications, if you find their product useful please give some money to help support their work.

General Security

If you are a Microsoft windows user you can get advice on protecting your PC is from the Microsoft Website. Please ensure your PC is fully updated and that you have "automatic updates" turned on. This will ensure that the latest updates will be automatically downloaded to your PC as soon as they are made available.

Other users should go to the website of their respective operating system manufacturer.
