Recycling Waste
Waste is becoming an incredibly large problem throughout the world - the UK alone throws away a massive 26 million tonnes of rubbish every year. Nearly two thirds of this can be recycled and local councils are working hard to set up new systems to ensure that your waste gets a second life.
Unipol has introduced recycling bins to our larger developments at:
Carlton Hill LS7 1JA
Mill Street LS9 8NA
Holborn Terrace LS6 2QA
Shay Street LS6 2PZ
These sites have green and white containers.
The green containers are for the following recyclable materials:
|
Paper e.g. |
Cardboard e.g. |
Metal Cans e.g. |
Plastics |
|
junk mail |
brown card |
drink cans |
types 1, 2 and 4 * such as |
|
office paper |
glossy card |
food cans |
plastic bags |
|
newspapers |
egg boxes |
pet food cans |
plastic bottles |
|
magazines |
toilet inner tubes |
|
plastic milk containers |
The white containers are solely for glass, of any colour.
These recycling containers are rather large and so aren’t suitable for smaller complexes and houses. The council can provide smaller green bins so long as your property is on a green recycling route; you can find out if your house is on one of these by calling 0845 1240113.
If you discover your property isn’t on a route there are still other ways to recycle your materials.
You can recycle, compost or dispose of almost everything at a Household Waste Centre. It will mean you finding your own way there but these recycling areas can usually be found quite close. To find out where your local Household Waste Centre is and how to contact them please use the following link:
http://www.leeds.gov.uk and type in ‘Household Waste Centre’ in the search box.
There are also 340 small recycling areas, often in supermarket or pub car parks, around Leeds where you can take glass, paper and textiles. A list of these can be obtained from www.recycle-more.co.uk.
