Security
Unipol's properties have all been converted with security in mind:
- there is a burglar alarm in all properties where there is any ground floor occupancy
- there are ground-floor net curtains in most properties to give more privacy during the day Campus Watch Sign
- ground-floor sash windows can be opened a maximum of 4"
- vulnerable first-floor windows are either restricted or have window locks
- all properties have secure mortice locks
- many complexes have door-entry systems into communal stairwells
- communal stairwells are well lit to deter intruders
- external security lighting is provided where needed
- garden maintenance takes into account the need to maintain visual lines leading up to a property to deter thefts
- tenants are given information to increase safety awareness.
- Unipol takes part in Campus Watch which operates throughout both Universities and with other large housing suppliers
Where a specific problem has been identified, individual properties have additional security. This may include CCTV systems, secure car parking, lockable gates and railings and high-security doors.
In 2003, Unipol opened an Out of Hours Call Centre, staffed by security staff who can take emergency calls from tenant's throughout our portfolio and deploy mobile security patrols where necessary.
