 Quality

The general quality of accommodation in Leeds is improving and with the introduction of the new Housing Act (2004), this trend should continue. However, the quality and type of accommodation can vary according to the area you are looking in. It is important that you use the house hunting checklist to help guide and focus you through the process of finding suitable accommodation.

Some areas of Leeds are considered traditional student areas such as Headingley, Hyde Park and Woodhouse. The demographics of these areas will also include families and some young professionals. The amenities and local services tend to be good with excellent transport links in to the City Centre. Other areas are becoming increasingly popular with the ‘young professional’ market these include, Chapel Allerton, Horsforth, Moortown and some areas south of the city such as Beeston and Holbeck. Again these areas tend to offer excellent local amenities and transport links in to the City Centre. Please click here for a more detailed description of areas of Leeds.

Leeds City Council operate a Landlord Accreditation scheme. It is a voluntary scheme that aims to encourage, acknowledge and actively promote good standards of privately rented accommodation and to assist landlords and tenants to undertake their respective responsibilities to each other.
