Community Higher Education Forum Terms of Reference

To liaise between Students, the Students’ Unions, non students, the local authority and Universities:

a) to promote dialogue between all those with a stakeholding in the community and to encourage understanding and areas of common interest which can promote positive action and interaction.

b) on proposed changes to the content of the current Student Accommodation Accreditation Scheme, taking into account changes required by the implementation legislation and the subsequent policies developed by Nottingham City Council focusing on local environmental issues.

c) as a contribution to analysis of how the Accreditation scheme is operating in respect of community and environmental issues.

d) on how the Unipol services interfaces with the community and encourages good community relations between the partners to improve the community for all concerned.

e) provide a way forward on issues that affect all residents in a community such as street lighting, refuse removal and door knocking as a way of house hunting to bring about true co-operation and positive change and improvement.

All members shall be appointed for 3 years and must be resident in student areas of Nottingham. There will be 30 members of this group and Unipol will encourage applications from individuals as well as recognised community groups.

The Community in Higher Education Forum will meet 4 times as year. The minutes of the Community in Higher Education Forum will be received by the Nottingham Stakeholders Liaison Sub Committee.
