House Hunting 2012 has Begun - Ready, Steady, Go

We're now 24 days into house hunting and searches through the Unipol website are continuing to run well ahead of last year with an average of 1,000 searches being carried out daily over the last week.

The first day of house hunting in particular saw a record breaking start:

8,860 bed spaces were available as the Unipol Nottingham website went live at 12.01am on Monday 23rd January, 18% up on 2011. Additional new bed spaces have been added every day since and, at the time of writing, there are 8,331 bed spaces being displayed on the website including 3,160 in shared houses.

On the first day of house hunting students undertook a record 16,236 searches 89% up on last year. The following day, Tuesday 24th January, searches were running at 7,575 - 42% ahead of last year and this trend continued forr the next two weeks. Over the first full 17 days more than 66,744 searches have taken place (42% ahead of 2011) with students spending an average of 12 minutes on the Unipol Nottingham website.

This increased activity reflects students taking on board the advice to wait and not rent properties before Christmas.
