Unipol and The Dispute Service Launch New Deposit Protection Scheme
New for the 2010 lettings year is The Unipol/TDS Deposit Protection Scheme which enables Unipol Code landlords to protect deposits quickly and cheaply through The Dispute Service, an insurance based deposit protection scheme.
This is exclusively for Unipol Code landlords in Leeds, Bradford and Nottingham as a benefit to their membership of the accreditation scheme and enables smaller owners access to a scheme that was previously unavailable to them.
Owners can register for free through Unipol's online system and protect deposits using the TDS/Unipol website.
Key benefits of this scheme include;
- no registration fee to use the site
- low cost fees for each tenancy you protect
- keep the deposit for the duration of the tenancy meaning returning the deposit is under your control
- access to a fast disputes panel administered by Unipol
The cost of protecting a deposit is £14.00 plus VAT (£16.45) per tenancy which enables a deposit to be protected for up to 12 months.
It is anticipated that over 8,000 deposits will be protected in this way and the scheme represents a significant benefit to landlords who are members of the Unipol Code.
