The National Codes Verification Visit and How to Ace It

A one-day training event designed for both new applicants for membership of the Codes and any new members. The event will provide participants with detailed knowledge of how the self-assessment and verification system operates, and will prepare them thoroughly for any future verification visit. 

Suitable for: Members of staff who manage the student accommodation that is (or will be) covered by the Codes.

10.15am - 10.25am Welcome and Introductory Remarks.

10.25am – 11.30am Introduction to the National Codes - How and why the Codes were devised, how they are governed, what support and training is available and some detailed discussion about the requirements of the Codes

11.30am - 11.40am Break (tea and coffee available)

11.40am - 13.00pm How to Assess Ourselves - A practical guide to completing the online self-assessment questionnaire

1.00pm-1.30pm Lunch (provided)

1.30pm - 2.45pm The Verification Visit from the Verifier’s Perspective - A member of the verification team will detail what they look for during a visit. This will include a visit to an existing site situated close to the training venue.

2.45pm - 3.30pm Preparing for a Verification Visit - In small groups, delegates will discuss what they would wish to do to prepare for a visit from a verifier.

3.30pm - 3.40pm Break (tea and coffee provided)

3.40pm - 4.25pm Preventing Code Complaints. How the Codes complaints procedures operate, plus a discussion of some example complaints that have arisen in student accommodation and how they could have been prevented.
