Vacancies at Unipol Bradford
Accommodation Bureau Assistants 10 hours per week, 21st September 2008-19th June 2009
(Part time, temporary)
Unipol (Bradford) will be responsible for finding houses for over 8,000 students a year and advertises nearly all private sector student vacancies over the course of a year through the Accommodation Bureau. The Accommodation Bureau provides essential information and advice to both returning and new students looking for a decent and affordable place to live whether in the private rented sector or University accommodation.
The Accommodation Bureau Assistants are the first point of contact for students and owners so good interpersonal skills are required and some experience of customer services.
The posts entails advertising properties on the Unipol website. Keyboard skills and experience of data entry will give a candidate an advantage although training will be provided. The post would suit applicants with an interest in housing.
Ability to drive and being willing to drive to go to properties to take photographs as part of their duties would be a significant advantage. If applicable, candidates should give details of the date they took and passed their driving test and certify that they have a full operable driving licence.
The Accommodation Bureau Assistant (temporary) will be employed on University of Leeds Temporary workers rate at £6.20 per hour for 10 hours a week. The post may involve some working in the evenings and on Saturdays, Sundays and the August Bank holiday. Actual hours of work are negotiable with the Accommodation Bureaux Team Leader to cover the weekend shifts and staff may be asked to work additional hours at exceptionally busy times. All those working in Unipol are employed jointly by Unipol and the University of Leeds.
Because of the small number of staff employed by Unipol it is important to maintain flexibility and be willing to undertake any of the duties necessary to meeting the needs of students using the service.
Unipol deals with a large number of overseas students, mature students and students from ethnic minorities. It is, therefore, essential that staff in the Accommodation Bureau behave in a non-discriminatory and non-racist manner.

Vacancies at Unipol Leeds
Accreditation Officer (Full-time, 35 hours per week)
Fixed term for two years
Unipol runs successful voluntary accreditation schemes (known as Codes of Standards) for owners letting to students in Leeds, Bradford and Nottingham. The Codes monitor and improve property and management standards. Unipol also has a stake in two Government Approved Codes of Practice dealing with larger student developments in the UK. Unipol currently accredits an estimated 150,000 student bed spaces.
Your skills in complex administration, advocacy, negotiation and mediation techniques will prepare you for the four key aspects to the role:
· Inspect properties and consult with tenants to ensure that landlords and agents meet the standards to which they have voluntarily agreed.
· Run, develop and promote the Codes and increase the profile and validation of the Codes amongst both landlords and students.
· Liaise with private owners.
· Deal with complaints on a day by day basis and service the Tribunals which resolve disputes.
The post is based in Leeds but the post holder will occasionally be expected to work in Nottingham and Bradford. Experience of assessing housing standards (although training will be provided), working with students, landlords or local authorities will be an advantage.
You will be responsible to the Code of Standards Administrator. There will be a probationary period of six months.
You should have an operable driving license and have frequent access to you own motor transport. A mileage allowance is paid for work related business within Leeds and Nottingham.
University Grade 5 (£19,263 - £22,332) according to qualifications and relevant experience
