SHAC Code of Standards

The University Of Birmingham, Guild of Students is fortunate enough to have its very own Student Lettings Agents, SHAC! We are unique in the way that we run, in comparison to many of the other Letting Agents that can be found on the high street, as we pride ourselves in putting student safety and satisfaction first. Everything we do puts students at the centre of our decisions, from the way we only advertise accredited landlords; to the fact we use student staff members to carry out inspections on the properties we advertise.

• We advertise houses for Landlords who have signed up to a code of standards which guarantee the quality and condition of the house.
  
  
• We ensure all housing is of a good condition and maintain a high standard. SHAC are here to ensure that the Universities students are living in safe and secure accommodation. For this reason we are able to be selective about the houses we chose to advertise. We do not charge the students any fees, they will only be accountable for the rent and deposit.
  
  
• The Vice President of Housing and Community has worked hard throughout the year to have the SHAC established as a safe and trusted housing service. The SHAC was started with student safety as the number one focus, and it will continue to be run this way.
  
  
• The SHAC has its own website, which can be accessed easily to fit around academic and social life. There is also a section on the Website where students can leave notices about spare rooms in their own house or if they are looking for housemates.
