Information for new members

Since opening the Nottingham service, Unipol have been working hard with landlords, the students' unions, both universities (Nottingham Trent University and the University of Nottingham) and the Councils, to put together a new accreditation Code for student housing. We have now completed that process and the new Unipol DASH Code was launched on 1st August 2008. The press release can be read here

Because this is a new Code, and membership runs till 31st July 2011, we have found it necessary to introduce a small fee that covers the administration of processing new accreditation applications. The fee varies depending on how many properties you have.

Fees from 1st August 2008:

Number of Properties Administration Fee
1 £20
2-5 £40
6-10 £80
11-15 £120
16-20 £160
21-40 £200
41-60 £240
61-120 £300
unlimited £350

These fees will enable an owner to join the Unipol DASH Code from now until July 31st 2011. Further information can be found about the Code here as can the sampling methods we use to inspect properties.

The fee is payable when you return your Code Declaration Form to us and the fee must have been paid before you are issued with a certificate, at which point your membership is completed. Later in the year (nearer the next house hunting season) we will also send you some free merchandising so that you can also use this to help promote your commitment to the Code.

You can pay online here, by cheque (payable to Unipol Student Homes), or by credit or debit card by calling in at the office or telephoning 0115 846 8599.

Unipol DASH codeThe Unipol DASH Code now has a new logo, a rather punchier "thumbs up" so that the landlords, the universities, colleges and the students' unions can market the Code more easily next year.

You may know that we have been undertaking large piece of research in Nottingham and although the full results of that will be available in a special briefing during October 2008, we can let you know that 92% of students in Nottingham said they valued the Code as an important part of their decision-making process about letting, so we am hopeful that being a member of the new Code will turn into a real marketing advantage.

Can we take this opportunity of thanking you for your interest in the Code. I hope you will agree that the Code is easy to read and sets a proper standard for good student housing in Nottingham, which you help to provide. Help us once again, by meeting the standards, signing the new Declaration and sending it back to us straight away so that everyone knows that you are under the new Code.

If you want any further information, or wish to discuss any aspect of the Code with a member of Unipol's staff then feel free to contact us, by phone or in writing at any time.
