Understanding HE and the National Codes for PBSA - An Intro for New Staff (July)

Purpose built student accommodation (PBSA) is an expanding part of the private rented sector, yet it has many differences to mainstream housing that new building managers need to understand in order to offer a good quality, supportive and compliant service to students. Student accommodation is central to the academic and pastoral experience, and new staff to the sector are often surprised by the culture, norms and routines involved in managing PBSA.

This event is being offered free for members of the ANUK/Unipol National Codes for purpose built student accommodation, to support in the development of new and existing staff. Maximum of 45 places per event.

Non-members of the ANUK/Unipol Codes can attend for the fee of £75 per person.

Jess Carrier, National Codes Co-ordinator, Unipol Student Homes
Jess joined Unipol in 2018 as the National Codes Coordinator after spending two years as the Welfare and Community Officer at Leeds Beckett Students’ Union. Her role includes administering the ANUK/Unipol National Codes and undertaking project work on various issues across the student accommodation sector. Having held a key Higher Education role during the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic, she is experienced in student engagement and advocacy.

Victoria Peckitt, Code Complaints Investigator, Unipol Student Homes
Vic Peckitt is the Code Complaints Investigator for the National Code and Unipol Code.  Vic went to university in Liverpool and Leeds and has over ten years of experience working within the Student Accommodation sector.  She has been with Unipol since 2015, enjoying roles in Housing Management and Tenancy Support.  Vic is also an accredited Mental Health First Aid Instructor.

This free two hour event is suitable for:

• Staff who have recently joined the PBSA sector
• Existing staff who want to better understand higher education

Delegates will be sent webinar details by email the afternoon before the event. Free places are limited to two per organisation for members of the ANUK/Unipol National Codes.
