University of Leeds and Leeds University Union

The University and Leeds University Union (LUU), welcome parents and their children on the campus and aim to be child-friendly:

  • There are a number of routes around campus that are accessible for parents with buggies and pushchairs and for wheelchair users. These routes are clearly flagged on the green and white signs. Use the campus map to help you get around the campus.
  • The North-South Access Route

If you want to breastfeed your baby while on campus:

  • Leeds University Union has a private room available on level 1 of the Student Advice Centre
  • the Lifelong Learning Centre in the Marjorie and Arnold Ziff Building welcomes student parents and will make a quiet room available for their use if possible
  • the Leeds Institute of Health Sciences (Charles Thackrah Building) have a private room which can be booked by staff or parents needing to express milk or feed their babies. Please contact the Leeds Institute of Health Sciences reception and ask to book room 2.01 (tel: 0113 343 0839)
  • Other departments may also be able to make a room available on request.
  • For the benefit of parents and carers, the University has a policy on bringing children on to the campus, which sets out expectations of supervision and identifies some specific areas of risk
