Sport and Leisure: Beyond the Campus

Leeds City Council offers a broad range of leisure venues and activities:

Green and recreational space: a large number of public parks, public play areas for children and young people  which include playgrounds, ball parks, skateboard parks and teen zones.

Artistic and cultural venues: find out more here, offering a year-round programme of events. Look out for children and family activities and events at galleries, museums and other cultural venues.

Libraries: find out more here - free to join and, in addition to the usual book-lending services, offering events for adults and children, free internet and computer access at most venues, free workshops and audio book and DVD lending.

Some facilities and events run by the Council are free and some are available for a fee. Worthwhile money off fees can often be obtained by applying for an annual discount card

There are five cinemas near in the city centre and student areas :

Theatres

All based in the city centre, the main theatres in Leeds are the: 

West Yorkshire Playhouse

Leeds Grand Theatre

Leeds Carriageworks Theatre

The Carriageworks is run by the City Council, has a family-focussed programme and is a cheaper option.


Other commercially available activities include:

Ten-pin bowling, laser /paintballing, locked room activities, soft play, BMX tracks and trampolining parks.
