On-campus sport, leisure and volunteering

Both Universities in Nottingham and their students unions' offer a wide range of sporting and social opportunities.

The University of Nottingham provides a set of web pages about life on campus, including Students’ Union societies, sports clubs, volunteering projects, student-run groups and events; social spaces on campus; and networks for mature and international students.

Nottingham Trent Students’ Union website includes information on the sports clubs, societies  and volunteering projects that it runs.

Sport and leisure services beyond the campus

The local authorities in Nottingham also offer a broad range of leisure venues and activities:

Green and recreational space:

Nottingham City Council maintains a large number of public parks. Nottinghamshire County Council also has a number of parks for public use. These include public play areas for children and young people. There are also a number of skateparks in and around the city.

Sport and leisure centres :

Run by Nottingham City Council around the city are for general public use, and the County Council runs similar centres in the wider area.

Museums, galleries and attractions: 

Offer a year-round programme of events in the city. Look out for children and family activities and events at galleries, museums and other cultural venues.

Libraries: 

Run by Nottingham City Council are free to join and offer events for adults and children, free internet and computer access at most venues, free workshops and audio book and DVD lending. Nottinghamshire County Council operates a similar range of library services

Cinemas:

There are five cinemas near or in the city centre: Broadway, Cineworld, Savoy, Showcase and Screen 22.

Theatres and Concert Venues:

The main theatres in Nottingham are the Nottingham Playhouse the Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall the Nottingham Arts Theatre the Albert Hall, Nottingham and the Bonington Theatre , which also has a cinema.
