Dealing with Complaints about Student Accommodation

What kind of complaints are coming through at the moment?
How are the OIA and ANUK/Unipol handling these and are you following any guidelines or principles?
How are complaints about accommodation refunds linking into general academic complaints (and possibly requests for fee refunds)?
What kind of outcomes are you getting?
Student complaints about accommodation are running at well over twice the usual level and it is clear that many students believe that issues related to Covid or reductions in face-to-face teaching are reasonable grounds to request refunds or cancel their accommodation contract.
An increasing number of students are also experiencing personal difficulties and mental health issues, and this is regularly stated in complaints. The legal position on this for private providers is relatively straightforward, but not so clear for educational institutions and what about the student welfare or business reputation perspective.
