11.10am - 12.30pm Fees, Guarantees and Deposits. What money can you legally ask for in addition to rent?  Changes to be introduced by new legislation, and how they will affect common practices.  Requirements for a guarantee to be legally binding.  Insurance-backed guarantee schemes.  Deposit protection update.

12.30pm - 12.40pm Questions and discussion

2.15pm - 3.00pm Make or Break?  How contracts are formed and when they can be cancelled.  Helping you through the minefield of inchoate, executory and conditional contracts; landlords’ and tenants’ rights of termination and the formalities required to bring them about.

3.00pm - 3.10pm Questions and discussion

3.10pm - 3.20pm Break (Tea and coffee provided)

3.20pm - 4.10pm Fining and Charging in student accommodation. How to calculate a claim for compensation (whether payable by or to the student) and why fines and penalties are open to challenge.
