Synopsis

This accredited course will enable delegates to become qualified Mental Health First Aiders (for adults), teaching a set of skills to enable you to offer appropriate support to someone experience a mental health condition.

MHFA won’t teach you to be a practitioner, but just like physical first aid, it will teach you to listen, reassure and respond, even in a crisis.

Attending the course will provide delegates with:

  • A deeper understanding of the issues that impact on and relate to people’s mental health
  • Teach practical skills that can be used every day, including being able to spot the signs and symptoms of mental health issues and feel confident guiding people towards appropriate support.
  • An opportunity to network with colleagues working in the student accommodation sector and discuss mental health issues in this context.

Everyone who attends the course will receive a copy of the MHFA manual and workbook, both excellent support resources.  When you have completed the course you will also receive a certificate to confirm that you are a trained Mental Health First Aider.

Whilst the content of the course complies with the MHFA England course model and is generic to the whole adult population, the trainer Jan Hardy and all delegates in attendance will be working in the student accommodation sector and therefore discussion will focus on how the information may be applied in the student accommodation context.
