Accommodation Costs Survey 2027 Opens for Participation This October
The Accommodation Costs Survey 2026 will open for data collection in October, inviting universities and student accommodation providers across the UK to contribute to one of the sector's most established and influential research projects.
First undertaken in 1967, the Accommodation Costs Survey provides an independent and comprehensive picture of accommodation costs, affordability and housing trends. The research helps students, accommodation providers, universities, sector bodies and policymakers understand the changing student housing landscape and the challenges affecting affordability and access to higher education.
What will the 2027 survey explore?
- What does student accommodation costs in 2026? And how affordable is it?
- Price point differences – what are students picking first? And what does this tell us student preference?
- Commuting and student appetite for accommodation
Participation in the survey helps ensure that the findings accurately reflect current accommodation provision across the UK. The resulting evidence supports informed decision-making, encourages best practice and contributes to a deeper understanding of the relationship between housing costs and the student experience. The report and results help to shape the future of student housing.
