Smart Moves: Housing Advice Week
Finding the right place to live, dealing with housing issues, and understanding your rights as a renter can feel overwhelming, especially as a student. That’s why Unipol and Leeds University Union are teaming up to bring you Smart Moves: Housing Advice Week, a three-day programme designed to help you feel confident, informed, and supported in your student housing journey.
10–12 February | Leeds University Union Foyer
From flatmate-finding events and expert advice sessions to freebies, creative activities, and cash prizes, there’s something for everyone. Better still, students who attend the events will have the chance to win one of two £100 cash prizes during the week. The more events you attend the more entries you can have to win a prize!
Head down to the LUU Foyer between 10am and 4pm on any (or all!) of the days and make the most of what’s on offer.
Tuesday 10 February
Disrepair and Complaints: How to Get Problems Sorted
10am – 4pm | LUU Foyer
Got issues in your current home? This day is all about helping you tackle housing problems with confidence; from repairs that aren’t being fixed to knowing how to make a complaint properly.
What’s happening on the day?
- Freebies galore – cleaning products from Bio-D, Dri-Pak, Dishmatic and Dr Beckmann
- Plant pot decorating (12pm – 2pm)
- Tenant Clinic for personalised advice
- Unipol Code specialists available from 11am–12pm and 1.30pm–3pm
- Competition to win 2 × £100 (full terms shared on the day)
This is the perfect chance to get practical advice and walk away with tools to improve your living situation.

House Hunting for 2026/27

Thinking ahead to next year? Whether you’re starting your search or still figuring out who to live with, this session focuses on everything you need to know about house hunting for the 2026/27 academic year.

The Renters’ Rights Act: Your New Rights Explained

New legislation is changing the way renting works and it’s important to know how it affects you. This final day focuses on the Renters’ Rights Act and what it means for student renters.

- National Codes session on the new Renters’ Rights Act (11am – 12.30pm)
