Details
The Renters’ Rights Bill will soon be law and will bring about a sea-change in the private rented sector. The Government has given particular concessions to members of the ANUK/Unipol National Codes in the Bill, and this webinar will provide purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) operators who are either members or considering membership an insight into the features of the Bill.
The Bill is likely to receive Royal Assent and be enacted during the 2025 – 2026 academic year, so PBSA operators need to understand the legal framework and their new obligations now so that they can prepare for the change. This webinar is part 2 in the Renters Rights webinars for PBSA providers, and will provide a further overview of the changes and an opportunity to ask questions.
This webinar will be led by Hilary Crook, Solicitor, Hatch Legal, an expert in the field of student accommodation and Higher Education, and Victoria Tolmie-Loverseed, Director of Standards at Unipol Student Homes, the operators of the ANUK/Unipol National Codes.
Attendees are encouraged to submit questions in advance to conferences@unipol.org.uk.
Part 2 will cover:
The abolition of assured shorthold tenancies:
- Why, when and how will this take place?
- How will the transition to common law tenancies work?
The transitional period
What does this mean for me and how do I deal with:
- existing assured shorthold tenancies and any transitional arrangements?
- new tenancy agreements made before the legislation comes into force?
- contracts made after the legislation comes into force?
- What will be different about common law tenancies?
- The role of the National Code
Will anything stay the same?
- How will other legislation work alongide the Renters Rights Bill
